The Family:
In
1995 Prince Paul marries Lia Triff, an
American woman of Romanian origin, at
the Ancient Orthodox Monastery of
Casin, Bucharest, Romania.
Princess Lia of Romania, born Triff,
( of Romanian origin) was a Coro Foundation Fellow, Woodrow Wilson Scholar
of Excellance and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship.
- Educated at Oxford University, England.
- Read postgraduate Business Studies.
- Presently holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters in Urban
Studies.
- Founded the " Oxford Archives" at the Bodleian Library Oxford University,
England
-Served in the Carter White House under Presidential Adviser, Sarah Weddington
in the capacity of Director
of Special Projects.
-Presidential Appointee to the Fulbright Section Commission.
- Board of Governors of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation.
- Lectured at high schools and Universities on King's teachings.
- Served on Governor of California, Jerry Brown's Public School Education
Committee.
- International Trade Negotiator, specializing in shipping.
- Former lobbyist for the Republic of Liberia and Honory Consul ( Liberia
was then the largest gross tonnage shipper in the world).
- Member of Executive Committee for the International Red Cross London
Branch , UNICEF S.F. past president, Help for the Aged; White Dove Ball
for the Marsden Cancer Hospital of London and the Queen Charlotte's Ball
which benefited children's hospital.
- Presently Vice President of the Prince Paul Foundation for Romania.
- Founded the S.O.S. (Save Our Schools) Programs for elementary and high
schools in Romania. She has convinced global companies to sponsor and
outfit schools there that have not been cleaned or painted throughout
Communism. Most recently, she organized 3M Co. and Cisco to underwrite
the transport of 600 desks, new blackboards, new textbooks, painting of
the exterior and interior of School 205 in Bucharest. Persuaded parents
to volunteer each weekend to clean walls and floors before the renovation
began. This project has twice been on CNN World News.
- Set up "Role Models for Our New Democracy" seminars. Grace Kennan Warnecke,
(daughter of renown American Amb. to the U.S.S.R. under President Kennedy)
of the Winrock Foundation Co-chaired these promotions for continuing higher
education programs.
